๐ŸงŸ Zombie Sniper Range Tips: Headshots, the Golden Zombie & Saving the Barricade

There's a particular kind of quiet that only a sniper game gives you. The horde shuffles toward your barricade, the scope drifts across the rooftops, and for three seconds nothing happens โ€” then you take the shot, and everything changes at once. Zombie Sniper Range is that feeling, bottled: a free zombie sniper game where you hold one rooftop, one rifle, and one very flimsy barricade between the town and the dead. I went in expecting a mindless shooting gallery. What I got was a game about patience, arithmetic, and one very shiny zombie worth 500 points.

The setup is simple enough to explain in a breath. Zombies advance on your barricade in waves. You drag to aim the scope and tap FIRE โ€” or click, or hit Space โ€” to shoot. A headshot kills instantly and pays double. Your magazine holds 6 rounds, and reloading leaves you exposed, because the horde does not politely wait while you fumble with a fresh clip. Somewhere in the crowd, a mystery Golden Zombie is worth a 500-point jackpot โ€” if you spot it before it shuffles out of range. And civilians wander through the chaos too, which brings us to the rule that will end more runs than any zombie: never, ever shoot a civilian. That's a โˆ’150 penalty, and it stings exactly as much as it sounds.

The headshot is the whole economy

Body shots kill zombies. Headshots kill them instantly and pay double. That sounds like a small difference until you do the maths on a magazine of 6 rounds: six body shots might clear six zombies, but six headshots clear six zombies for twice the score and leave you with rounds to spare, because a zombie that drops on the first shot is a zombie that never eats another second of your time. The catch is that headshots need a steadier hand โ€” a zombie's head is a small target on a moving body, and a miss is a wasted round.

Here's what worked for me: don't chase the head. Wait for the walk. Zombies shamble in a rhythm, and at the top of each step their head pauses for a fraction of a second, almost level. That's your window. Drag the scope so it sits just ahead of where the head is going to be, breathe out, and fire as the head drifts into the crosshair. It feels slow at first โ€” slower than spraying at torsos โ€” but by wave 3 you'll be clearing waves with rounds left over, and that's when the game starts to feel generous instead of desperate.

Six rounds, no excuses

The magazine is the real boss of this game. Six rounds, then a reload that leaves you standing there with an empty rifle while the horde keeps walking. So every shot has to earn its place. The worst habit in the game โ€” and I had it for my first three waves โ€” is firing at a zombie that's already close to the barricade out of panic. A panicked shot is a missed shot, and a missed shot is a round you'll want back thirty seconds later when two zombies arrive at once.

Count your shots out loud if you have to. I do. "Four left, three left" โ€” it sounds silly, but it stops the finger from firing on autopilot. And reload on your terms, not the game's: the moment you drop the last zombie of a cluster, reload immediately, while the next cluster is still shambling in from the far edge. A reload during a lull costs nothing. A reload mid-surge costs barricade health, and the barricade starts at 100% with no way back except a revive.

That golden glint is worth dropping everything for

Every so often a Golden Zombie wanders into the horde, worth 500 points โ€” more than a whole wave of ordinary kills. It's easy to miss if you're locked onto the nearest shambler, so keep one eye on the edges of the screen and learn the glint: a flash of gold among the grey-green crowd. When you see it, it jumps the queue. Everything else can wait a second; the golden one can't, because it will shuffle off-screen and take its jackpot with it.

One warning, though: don't get so excited that you rush the shot. A golden zombie still needs the same lead and the same steady aim. I've watched a 500-point jackpot sail past because I fired at the glint instead of at the head. Lead it, breathe, and take the same shot you'd take on any other zombie โ€” just take it now.

Civilians: the โˆ’150 trap

This is the rule that separates a good run from a great one. Civilians cross the range, and shooting one costs you 150 points โ€” roughly the value of several clean kills. Worse, it breaks your rhythm: you flinch, you hesitate on the next shot, and suddenly the horde is at the barricade. The fix is boring and it works: identify before you aim. Before your finger commits to a target, spend half a second confirming it's actually a zombie. In the early waves that's easy. In the later waves, when the screen is crowded and the barricade is groaning, it's the hardest skill in the game โ€” and the one that saves your score.

Your range checklist

Zombie Sniper Range rewards the shooter who treats every bullet like it matters โ€” because with six in the magazine, it does. Slow down, aim small, save the barricade, and when the gold glints, take the shot that counts. More guides like this live on the Jollycade blog, and the homepage has the rest of the arcade waiting. The horde isn't going anywhere. Neither is your rifle. Go hold the line.
