๐ Monster Truck Jam Tips: Crush Cars, Stick Backflips & Beat Bruno
My first show in Monster Truck Jam lasted about eleven seconds. I floored it, hit the first ramp at full speed, and came down nose-first at an angle the truck very much disagreed with. The crowd went quiet. The truck went over. Sixty seconds is not a long time in this monster truck game online, and I spent most of my first one learning that the gas pedal is not a personality.
Here's the setup. You're a monster truck in a stadium, and each show gives you exactly 60 seconds to beat a target score โ 250 points in Show 1, First Crush, and 3,200 by the final show, Championship Jam. Twelve shows in between, each adding something new: a bus to flatten, rings to fly through, a mud pit, a night show under a spotlight, and a rival named Bruno who posts a score you have to beat. Crush cars, catch air, work the crowd โ harder than it looks.

Crushing pays the rent โ airtime pays the bonus
Every car you flatten is worth 70 points, multiplied by whatever the crowd meter is doing. That meter is the quiet engine of the whole game: crush things, fly, land clean, and it climbs; sit still or flip, and it drains. At a full roar your points more than double, so a lazy crush in front of a dead crowd is worth half of what the same crush earns when the stands are screaming. The rhythm of a good show is never just "drive at cars" โ it's crush, jump, land, crush again, keeping the meter fed because it feeds you back.
And then there's the golden car: one car in every show, hiding in plain sight among the regular rows, worth a random 100 to 500 points when you crush it. I missed it in my first three shows; now I scan the rows before committing to a line, because that golden flash can be the difference between clearing a target and falling 80 points short at the buzzer.
The mystery ramp is a slot machine โ pull it anyway
Somewhere in every arena sits a glowing ramp with a question mark on it, and honestly it's the best thing in this monster truck freestyle game. Hit it and you get one of four surprises: a crowd frenzy that doubles all your points for 8 seconds, a coin shower, a super bounce that launches you higher for 10 seconds, or a straight bonus payout. The first time I hit it I got the frenzy with a full row of cars ahead and nearly doubled my show score in eight seconds. The worst outcome is still free points, so swerve toward it whenever it's in reach โ and if you roll a frenzy, drive like you mean it, because every crush in those eight seconds is worth double.
Land flat or flip โ the 55-degree rule
This is the part that ended my first show, so listen up. In the air, the left and right keys (or the pedals on touch) pitch your nose up and down. Land more than about 55 degrees off the ground angle and you flip โ the truck stalls, the crowd meter takes a 30-point hit, and a second of your 60 is gone. The trick is small corrections, early: start pitching toward the landing slope the moment you leave the ramp, not when you're already falling. On the kicker ramp in Show 8 and the mega ramp in Show 11, a full backflip is worth it โ land one cleanly and it's +420 points โ but only try it there, where the ramps are steep enough to give you the height. A backflip off a small ramp is just a flip with extra steps.
Bruno, the bus, and the pyramid
The shows stop being "drive and crush" around Show 3, when a stacked bus shows up that takes two passes to flatten โ hit it once, circle back, hit it again. Show 5 adds a mud pit that slows you to a crawl but pays a splatter bonus for every half-second you sit in it: go slow on purpose, get paid for it. Show 6 hangs glow rings in the air, 120 points each for flying through them, and Show 9 drops a ten-car pyramid that crumbles two cars at a time for cascading points. Airtime pays too โ fly longer and higher for a bigger landing bonus, and chain jumps in the Ramp Chain show for combo points.
Then there's Bruno. Show 7 is his arena, and the big boss posts a live score while you drive โ you're chasing a rival, not just a target. He comes back for the championship in Show 12, alongside the pyramid, the rings, the mud and a 3,200 target. Treat Bruno shows like any other show, just faster: ignore the number, hit your own rhythm, and check the gap only when the timer hits 20 seconds. If you're behind then, that's when the mystery ramp and the gold car matter most.
What I'd tell a friend before their first show
- Feed the crowd meter first. Points multiply with it, so a crush before a roaring crowd is worth far more than one in silence.
- Find the golden car before you commit to a line โ 100 to 500 bonus points can save a show.
- Hit the mystery ramp every time. The worst prize is still free points, and a frenzy is worth planning around.
- Pitch early, pitch small. Correct your nose the moment you leave the ramp; land flat or don't jump at all.
- Save backflips for the kicker and mega ramps โ +420 is real money, but only where the height exists.
- Use your one free revive. Flip out and the game rights the truck with the clock still running โ take it, every time.
That's Monster Truck Jam: sixty seconds, a stadium full of people who want to see something ridiculous, and a truck that will do exactly what you tell it to โ including flip, if you tell it badly. The best shows feel like a conversation with the crowd: crush, fly, land, roar, repeat. And when you finally beat Bruno in his own arena, meter maxed, eight seconds on the clock, you'll understand why I kept coming back after that eleven-second disaster. More guides live on the Jollycade blog, and the homepage has the rest of the arcade waiting. This crush cars game doesn't ask for much โ just sixty seconds and a willingness to land flat.
