๐Ÿ›ธ Alien Invasion Defense Tips: Hold the Line, Spend the Tech & Break the Mothership

The first thing that surprised me about Alien Invasion Defense is what you don't do. You don't pull a trigger. The sky-cannon fires on its own the moment a saucer appears, which sounds relaxing โ€” until the first real wave arrives and your job turns out to be something else: being in the right place at the right moment, every moment, while the sky fills up. This alien invasion defense game is won with positioning and shopping, not fast fingers.

Your cannon fires itself โ€” your job is where it points

Here's the deal. You move the cannon with your mouse or a drag โ€” arrow keys work too, nudging it left or right โ€” and it shoots automatically whenever saucers are in the air. So the skill isn't aiming, it's prioritising. The saucers closest to the city matter most. A scout is only 1 HP and worth 60 points, but a landing still costs the city 8 HP. An armored saucer takes five hits to kill and costs 16 HP if it gets through. Weavers zigzag from wave 2, and from wave 4 splitters split into two speedy minis โ€” killing one can briefly double your problem.

My habit, after more failed cities than I'd like to admit: sweep, don't chase. I keep the cannon drifting in a steady rhythm instead of parking it under one saucer while the rest of the wave slides past. Park on one armored saucer and three scouts land behind your back. Sweep wide, pick off the lowest saucers first, and let the auto-fire work while you think about the next threat.

Landings are the only score that matters

Points are nice, but the city is the game. It starts at 100 HP, and a landing costs damage based on what lands โ€” scouts 8, weavers 10, bombers 12, armored 16. Bombers add a second headache: bombs that hit the city for 12 HP each unless you shoot them down. Golden saucers are the exception: worth 200 points, dropping a random bonus chunk of tech, and costing nothing if they land. Pure upside.

That changes the quiet moments. When a wave is nearly cleared and one straggler drifts down at the screen's edge, go get it. And shoot the supply pod drifting down mid-wave: a random gift โ€” rapid fire for 8 seconds, +10 tech, or a sky blast hitting every saucer. I used to ignore pods. Then a rapid-fire pod saved a wave I had no business surviving. Now I shoot every one.

The shop is where waves are actually won

Clear a wave and the game pauses for the best part: the upgrade shop. Every saucer drops tech, plus a cache at the end of each wave. Four things are on sale. Cannon Damage and Fire Rate get pricier with every level โ€” the first is cheap, later ones a real investment. City Shield costs 15 tech, absorbs one landing, and you can hold up to two. Rebuild City costs 12 tech and restores 35 HP. My order: damage first โ€” killing saucers faster is the same as having more city HP โ€” then fire rate, then a shield before a crowded wave, and repair only when the city is hurting. Twelve tech on a city at 90 HP is 12 tech wasted.

The trap is hoarding. Tech in your pocket doesn't shoot anything, and the waves only get tougher โ€” saucers gain HP and speed every wave, elites arrive from wave 7, and the count climbs by two per wave. Leave the shop with tech unspent and no shield and you've left power on the table. That's the rhythm of this alien invasion defense game: fight, shop, fight harder.

Then the mothership arrives

Every 5th wave, the mothership comes โ€” a huge saucer with 46 HP that parks in the sky and spawns scouts while you try to bring it down. It's worth 1,500 points and drops 30 tech, but it lands for 50 HP if it reaches the city, so this is not a mothership boss to stall on. The trick is focus: the mothership is big and slow, so your shots land easily โ€” but its scouts slip past and chew the city while you stare at the big prize. Split your attention: bursts on the mothership when the sky is clear, then back to the scouts. A shield before a mothership wave is worth every bit of its 15 tech, and if the city falls, one free revive per run restores it to 50 HP and clears the sky.

Seven habits that keep the city standing

That's the heart of it. This alien defense game looks like a shooter but plays like a juggling act: keep the low saucers dead, keep the bombs out of the sky, and keep your tech working between waves. The tower defense waves get thicker and faster, but a surviving city feels earned. If this alien invasion defense game taught me one thing, it's that the cannon shoots and you think.
